That's that done with then?
What........ That tricky first Saturday after Hampton's season ends, what do we do? For me it seemed like the "proper" end of the season, football league playoffs underway and no Swansea :(
Nothing but tedium in the premiership
No rugby league, due to quins being rubbish and no longer in the challenge cup, and don't even mention the crusaders.
So what did I do? And will it make an interesting Blog update?
Well, took the daughter to Ballet on sat. Morning and had mad nanna round for a roast on Sunday, is the answer to the first question, and the answer to the second should be pretty self explanatory.
SO....
In the words of Craig David I guess I should re-ee-wind to what should have been my first post! The obligatory Introduction,
Hello, I'm Matt 30 years young, born in Swansea, currently residing in sunny Rhyl. I'm married with a 2yo girl, and am "gainfully employed" by Jaguar Land Rover as an engineer, based in Liverpool.
My involvement with Hampton goes back about 13 years. My parents (Sue & Steve) ran the Railway Inn, by the station and Dad took me and a young Chris, aka Romeo to watch a few games, (my first game escapes me but Eastbourne springs to mind!
A few short months later the Railway Inn was replaced by the bar at the Bev (before Hammonds) and the rest is History, as soon as I was old enough I was behind the bar, and before that I was in the kitchen. As far as I know, I killed no one with my burgers or sausages.
Other jobs at the Bev have included, cleaning Kit, cleaning dressing rooms, odds and sods about the pitch. I guess you could say I am fully time served.
1998 saw me bugger off to Uni back to Swansea, and from then on my love for Hampton has been long distance, with occasional visits to the big smoke.
As for my highlights, there are all the normal ones, playoffs, Barnet in the FA cup, and the two games before that including the away (home for me) match in the valleys.
Slightly more random, the reserves winning some cup! With a team including Bobby Watson and Scott Tar. The weekend in Clacton with the old ladies team. And anywhere that involved drinking.
Ah memories…..
Wonder what next weekend will bring!

23 Hours to go
As I'm sat here in my little house in Rhyl watching the X-files my mind drifts to the Beveree, a place i used to literally call home, and the events that would be unfolding there in less than a day.
If you are a Hampton supporter in which ever part of the world you call home, you will be thinking the same. What will happen come 9:30(ish) on Thursday 7th May 2009, there will be tears, but what type, with out a doubt there will be drinks drunk a large majority by Stef, (and say what you want about playing a final at "home" it's money for our coffers) and there is the very real prospect of trips to Gateshead and Chester, amongst others and renewing our "friendly rivalry" with AFC, or if things go wrong Stains Town.
It has been a typical Hampton season, one which unfortunately i haven't been able to witness first hand, but reports have been good. Big Crowds, good wins, leaving it late, losing to teams we should beat. it was happening when we were playing Windsor and Eton, and it will happen whoever we play next term........
but we are here on the eve of the "biggest game in the clubs history" (#2) so something must have gone right on the pitch, and you can't open a forum without seeing supporters of another club tearing us a new one, calling us cheats / boring / small, and that is with out personal jibes at our supporters, who no matter whether old, young, tall, short, fat, thin have had their part to play in Hampton's season ( I can only be glad that I am not known to some of the opposition supporters, I think they may burst into flames if they knew there was a Welsh, Tubby, Ginger, guy about. Their tiny minds would implode under the strain), what has Hampton done to upset so many people, apart from lamping a mascot, which in many sports is seen as respectable, hardly a season goes by without a mascot based incident, see Cyril at Swansea, Buck at London Broncos. Anyway if he had any balls he would have fought back!
Anyway back to Hampton. The fact that we have upset so many should be cause enough for celebration, but it's not over, not by a long shot, whatever the outcome there is still at least 90 minutes of adventure and excitement, the stuff that Beavers have grown to love, nothing is ever easy but we wouldn't have it any other way!
